Car Plunges Off Pier Into Water In Bay Ridge

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A recovery operation is underway Monday in Brooklyn where a car plunged off a pier and into the waters off Bay Ridge.

Police responded to the scene around 1 a.m. Monday after witnesses reported seeing a car drive straight off the 69th Street pier.

The car is under water and drifting.

Police are treating it as a recovery effort, and not a rescue.

It's not clear who was in the vehicle.
