Powerful Earthquake Hits South, Central Mexico

OAXACA (CBSNewYork) -- A powerful 7.2 earthquake hit the south and central parts of Mexico on Friday.

The quake caused lights to sway in Mexico City.

Panicked residents ran into the streets to get away from tall buildings.

Pictures on social media showed minor damage to roads and some buildings, but there were no reports of injuries.

Mexico was hit by a deadly 8.2 earthquake in September.
