NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — The NYPD and the Department of Transportation are rolling out “warm weather weekends” on Thursday.

The new campaign focuses on the increased dangers on the street with an uptick in traffic injuries and fatalities once more people spend time outdoors in the warmer weather, especially on weekends.

The initiative is part of Mayor Bill de Blasio’s Vision Zero program that aims to keep drivers and pedestrians safe.
