Go Ice Skating
Nothing will trick you into thinking it is winter quite like a blast of arctic air. Ice skating rinks, such as Flushing’s World Ice Arena, offer open skating to the public during the summer months. In Manhattan, there’s the Sky Rink at Chelsea Piers, and in Westchester, try the Westchester Skating Academy
Enjoy Some Ice Cream
Don’t get that ice cream because you want it, get that ice cream because you need it—to stay cool of course! Check out one of the city’s many places for ice cream, gelato or frozen yogurt to escape the heat.
Visit A Water Playground
There’s no better way to have fun with your children while keeping them cool than playing at a playground complete with water activities. Whether it is sprinklers or interactive water fun, you know your child will keep cool in the water. Also check out indoor playgrounds as a way to keep your child cool and active this summer.
Check Out A Museum
If you’re a native New Yorker that doesn’t seize the art and culture that all the city’s museums have to offer, now’s your chance. Visit a museum you haven’t seen in a while and soak up their air conditioning. Bring the kids along, too, many museums have free or discounted admission for children and students.
