Poconos Water Recreation

Encompassing 170 miles of winding rivers and 150 pristine lakes, the Pocono Mountains is a top destination for water recreation. Outdoor enthusiasts can canoe, kayak, raft or tube down the region's roaring rivers. In the Northeast, the Delaware River offers serene stretches as well as class I and II rapids. Regular dam releases on the region's Lehigh River fuel roaring whitewater throughout the warmer months.
The Pocono Mountains is also the home of Lake Wallenpaupack, the third largest manmade lake in Pennsylvania. With 52 miles of uninterrupted shoreline, Lake Wallenpaupack is a haven for water sports enthusiasts. Fishing, boating, swimming, paddleboarding, jet skiing and parasailing are popular activities on the "Big Lake."
Winter welcomes cold-weather sports like ice fishing and ice skating to the region, but swimmers don't have to wait for summer to enjoy splashing and sliding in the Pocono Mountains. The region's indoor waterparks stay a pleasant 84 degrees all year long. Two new indoor waterpark resorts, Kalahari Resorts and Conventions and Camelback Lodge and Aquatopia, will join Great Wolf Lodge as top destinations for water recreation in the Pocono Mountains this spring.
