It wouldn’t be 4th of July without Macy’s Fireworks show. The show can be seen at 9 PM, making for a spectacular light show above the Hudson River. This year’s theme is The Gift of Freedom, in honor of the 125th anniversary of the Statue of Liberty. Music will be performed in sync with the fireworks extravaganza. If you can’t be there, catch the live pre-show reports from the Macy’s 4th of July Firework Spectacular in New York starting at 4pm with the main event starting at 9 p.m. on 1010 WINS, the official radio station of Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular. If you’d rather see the fireworks show aboard a boat instead of by land, then book your spot on Circle Line Sightseeing Cruises. Board the ship at 4:30PM and enjoy food, drinks, and music while sailing along the Hudson. This could be one of the best seats in Manhattan to catch the annual show. Cruise goes until approximately 11 PM, leaving plenty of time to celebrate Independence Day. Tickets are $85 per person.

It’s time for the 2011 International Hot Dog Eating Contest happening once again at Coney Island. Stake out your spot to see men and women compete to see who can eat the most Nathans’ famous frankfurters. It’s the 96th time this crazy event has taken place and each year contestants battle it out, eating way more than the average one or two dogs. Can the three-time reigning champion Joey Chestnut of San Jose triumph again this year?  Contest starts at noon but with an expected audience of 50,000 you’ll definitely want to give yourself plenty of time to get settled.

If you’re willing to spend a pretty penny and you’re not prone to seasickness, head over to Clipper City at South Street Seaport for their Fourth of July party. Touting itself as the largest passenger sailboat in the U.S., the Clipper City is going big for everyone’s favorite summer holiday. For $350 you’ll get grilled meats off a BBQ pit and champagne open bar. You’ll set sail for a little over five hours and tickets can be purchased the link above. Party starts at 5:30 PM.

If you’re a big spender, you can join Hudson Terraces from 6:30 PM to 2 AM on the 4th of July for unbelievable views of the fireworks, plus an open bar, authentic barbecue and a night of partying. General Admission tickets begin at $200.
