Cheap & Free U.S. Open Events

Despite inclement weather heading into the 2011 US Open, the best tennis players in the world as scheduled at the USTA National Tennis Center in Queens August 29th-September 11th. You can cheer on the players, watch celebrity performances, and bring your family to special events all for free (or close to it). By Carly Petrone.

Bring the whole family down to Louis Armstrong Stadium or Arthur Ashe Stadium on August 31 for Family Day. If you're accompanied by a child 14 years old or younger, you can snag yourself grounds passes for $52/each. The day includes giveaways, autograph signings and a variety of entertainment. Purchase a breakfast and go home with a fun gift bag.

Wrap up your week by checking out the wheelchair and junior finals in person. For $5 you can get onto the grounds at 11 a.m. for the last day of the US Open. Stick around and watch the men's singles and women's doubles finals on the big-screen TVs just outside the stadium. You'll have access to the live entertainment and concessions. Plus you'll be able to hear the crowd roar from just a few feet away. The air will be filled with energy and you can be a part of it. Final Session is on September 11 and begins at 12 p.m.
