Gene Michaels
March 18th, 1978. My first day on the job as a newsperson at WEJL in Scranton Pennsylvania.
Since then I’ve done just about everything you can do in radio…except for engineering.
I’ve been a disc jockey on the air in every daypart. Spin the wheel of formats…I’ve done quite a few: Rock, A/C, MOR, Oldies, 70′s, 80′s…even dabbled in old fashioned country.
I’ve been a program director, VP of Programming and even VP of Programming and Marketing;
I’ve been on the air at in Scranton at WEJL and WEZX (ROCK 107) and WGBI AM and FM: In White Plains at WFAS. My longest stint as a programmer…13 YEARS was on Long Island at WALK-FM where I hosted the midday show for many years. I’m proud to say that the radio station was #1 on Long Island all the while I was there!
And now…I get to do traffic reports on this incredible radio station…with some of the most talented people in the business. I’m so proud and honored to be a small part of WCBS880!!!
