Faisal Shahzad, a 30-year-old Connecticut man with ties to the Pakistani Taliban, was arrested after leaving his explosives-laden car in the middle of Times Square on May 1. He pleaded guilty a month later to all 10 counts against him and said in court: "He wanted 'to plead guilty 100 times more' to let the U.S. know that if it did not get out of Iraq and Afghanistan, halt drone attacks and stop meddling in Muslim lands, 'we will be attacking U.S.'"
