I was trying to drive from work in Queens to home in Westchester and was listening to John Montone and his description of what was happening in lower Manhattan. (No one was allowed across the bridges so we sat in our cars parked on side streets.) I remember him saying he was turned away from entering one of the buildings and he finally left. Shortly after that the building collapsed and Mr. Montone suddenly realized that the man who saved his life was now dead. I can still hear his voice and……. at that moment everything hit home for me and became very personal.
