The defendants were arraigned separately in an Essex County courtroom, CBS 2’s Dave Carlin reported.
Four men were indicted Wednesday on charges that they shot and killed a man during a carjacking at the Short Hills Mall in New Jersey last December.
Hanif Thompson, 29, of Irvington; Karif Ford, 31, of Newark; Basim Henry, 32, of Newark; and Kevin Roberts, 33, of Newark, face a series of charges, including murder.
Newark has become a center of carjacking. Three of the suspects in the Dec. 15 carjacking murder at The Mall at Short Hills were from Newark.
Basim Henry was arrested in Pennsylvania. The 32-year-old was accused of violating the conditions of his supervised release from a 2006 robbery.
