This year’s Breeders’ Cup Classic is the second year in a row without a certifiable star. Even without the star power, it is the feature race during the Breeders’ Cup two-day program of races this Friday and Saturday at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California.
The Ladies’ Classic is clearly the best race of Breeders’ Cup weekend which is scheduled for Friday and Saturday at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California. The field of eight fillies and mares have won a combined fifty-seven races from ninety-four starts, an incredible 60% winning percentage.
Drosselmeyer, a 14-1 long shot, roared down the middle of the track and caught Game On Dude in the closing strides to win the $5 million Classic by 1½ lengths Saturday.
Upsets ruled the first three races on the second day of the Breeders’ Cup, with Afleet Again pulling off the biggest surprise at 41-1 odds in the $500,000 Marathon.
