The gunman who first killed a man, and then wounded a police officer while trying to evade capture, was sentenced to life in prison without parole Tuesday.

A police sergeant who was shot in the head in Brooklyn last year returned Tuesday to the housing complex where the incident happened, where he and another officer arrested two suspected robbers in an unrelated case.
