Lawmakers are returning Monday after weeks of vocal criticism from businesses about the approximate $1.5 billion in tax increases included in the two-year, $40.3 billion budget that narrowly passed with only Democratic votes.
The vote came about a half-hour before the midnight adjournment Wednesday.
It now heads to the Senate, which by law must act on the package by midnight when the General Assembly is scheduled to adjourn for the summer.
State Rep. Tony Guerrera said all income from electronic tolls would have to be used strictly for highway reconstruction and repairs.
Last month, the state Supreme court upheld an Appellate Court ruling in a case involving a boy bitten in 2006 by a horse named Scuppy in Milford.
