White House Confident Congress Will Approve Use Of Force In Syria

In a series of interviews on the Sunday news shows, Secretary of State John Kerry said the case for intervention in Syria’s 2 1/2-year civil war was strengthening each day and that he expected American lawmakers to recognize the need for action when the “credibility of the United States is on the line.”

Obama To Seek Congressional Authorization For Strike In Syria

President Barack Obama on Saturday made the case for consequences against Syria for an alleged chemical attack, and said he will seek authorization from Congress for a military strike.

Body Of Slain Journalist Marie Colvin Turned Over To Embassy Officials In Syria

Colvin, a Long Island native who worked for Britain’s Sunday Times, was killed along with French photographer late last month during shelling inside the besieged city of Homs.

Red Cross Has Body Of L.I. Native & Journalist Killed In Syria

The Red Cross said Friday that it is transporting the remains of American reporter Marie Colvin, originally of Oyster Bay, and French photographer Remi Ochlik to Damascus.
