Cuomo: State To Probe Banks’ Handling Of Sandy Victims’ Mortgages

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Wednesday announced a state review of banks and mortgage lenders who were allowed to delay payments as a result of damage from Superstorm Sandy, only to be asked to pay it all back in one lump sum.

Gov. Cuomo Aide Benjamin Lawsky New Head Of Financial Oversight In New York

The New York Senate has confirmed Benjamin Lawsky, a former federal prosecutor in Manhattan and Cuomo’s chief of staff, is the first superintendent of the Department of Financial Services. He was a special assistant to Cuomo as attorney general.
