Suffolk County Reaches Agreement To Improve Hate Crime Investigations

The Suffolk County Police Department has reached a tentative agreement to enhance investigations of hate crimes and bias incidents, in the wake of federal scrutiny following the 2008 hate crime killing of an Ecuadorean immigrant.

Court Tosses Civil Rights Lawsuit Filed On Behalf Of L.I. Hate Crime Victim

Marcelo Lucero’s family had appealed last year’s decision by federal Judge Leonard Wexler to throw out the lawsuit. The suit against the Suffolk County and its police department claims authorities failed to prevent the killing.
