Three Of Nine Bystanders Hit By Gunfire Near ESB Remain Hospitalized

Three of the nine bystanders hit by gunfire during Friday’s Empire State Building shooting remained hospitalized on Saturday morning. Police Commissioner Ray Kelly confirmed that all nine bystanders were hit by police officers’ bullets.

A disgruntled employee recently fired from his job shot and killed one of his co-workers then opened fire on the street near the Empire State Building before being shot and killed by police, authorities said Friday.

It was a proud moment for construction workers Monday when just after 2 p.m. they installed two 26-foot steel columns making the unfinished tower just over 1,270 feet tall — surpassing the height of the Empire State Building by 21 feet.
