Snow, sleet and ice took down trees, left intersections flooded with slushy muck, and had residents fit to be tied on Long Island Wednesday.
It comes out of nowhere and could happen at any time. Trees and tree branches have been crashing down creating the potential for serious injury and possibly death.
Neighbors said the couple was apparently out walking their dog Monday night when residents said they heard trees falling.
Spokesmen with ConEd, PSE&G and LIPA said they’re monitoring the storm and will beef up staffing as needed. Tree contact with power lines is the number one cause of power interruptions.
