“His heart is with … talking to him, he would love to be with the Giants,” Hugh Freeney, Dwight’s father, told Sirius radio’s Adam Schein. “But the Giants unfortunately … doesn’t have the money for it. They’re broke.”
“It will get done at some point,” Giants co-owner John Mara told reporters on Monday in regard to a long-term extension for the New Jersey native. “Just be patient.”
Former Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o visited with the Giants on Thursday night and Friday morning, according to multiple reports. Te’o, of course, was the victim of a “catfishing” hoax that took the sports world by storm in January.
The New York Post posted a screen grab from Jacobs’ Instagram in which he’s running over a Patriots defender in a Giants uniform. Under the picture, Jacobs writes, “Trying to get back in this uniform.”
“The entire time I wanted to return to the New York Giants, and fortunately they wanted me back,” Boothe said. “I’m happy to be back. It’s a great organization and a great team. I’m looking forward to this upcoming season.”
The Giants have agreed to terms on a one-year deal with linebacker Keith Rivers, according to multiple sources. In his first season with Big Blue the 26-year-old played in 11 games, recording 44 combined tackles.
Free-agent tight end Martellus Bennett has signed a four-year deal with the Chicago Bears, according to multiple reports. But New York also made an addition on Tuesday, agreeing to sign cornerback Aaron Ross.
“Seriously, I’ve got goals,” Coughlin said. “I’ve got things I want to get done. I’ve got a foundation. I’ve got a family. I’ve got all these things that I would still very much like to accomplish.”
Freeney is looking for a job after he was informed by the Colts on February 15 that he would not be re-signed, and he’s excited about the possibility of joining the G-Men.
Strahan didn’t take kindly to Sapp’s remark, tweeting, “You never cease to amaze me! Enjoy your moment. You don’t need to take a shot at me to justify yourself to other people.”
“I can’t even describe how it hurts,” Coughlin said. “I don’t know what to do. I’m walking around here like a crazy man. I don’t know what to do with myself. We shouldn’t be doing this right now.”
Eli Manning will square off with brother Peyton in East Rutherford next season when the G-Men host the Denver Broncos. It will be the third time that the brothers face off in the regular season.

Wide receiver Victor Cruz, guard Chris Snee and defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul have been selected to the 2012 NFC Pro Bowl team.
