“If ppl on this team wanna take shots at me an say I have no passion they are mistaken. I give everything I have each an every week,” Brandon Myers tweeted.
“Things are not gonna work out in your favor all the time. That doesn’t mean that you hang your head low. You gotta go out there, and you get better. You play football, you play with pride.”
“Talk is cheap,” Coughlin said. “Play the game. I don’t see anything that gets accomplished by the verbalization part of it. We’ve never been a team that has been one to provide bulletin-board material.”
The offensive line has stabilized. The running game is finally making strides, and Manning and his receivers are using quick, short passes to take what defenses offer instead of forcing plays over the top.
We’re used to a funky few games from Manning. But even if they’re to beat the beleaguered Packers and headless Cowboys, it starts with Manning. In order to return to No.1, you need a lot more from No.10.
“You know, I wasn’t,” the 67-year-old told Francesa. “Frustration, yeah. Disappointment, no doubt … The guys have been resilient and tough. They’ve let all the criticism — at least to a certain extent — bounce off their back.”
“Obviously no one in this division is running away with anything, and you never know what can happen,” Manning told WFAN host Mike Francesa. “We’ve got a lot of football (left), and (we’re) not too far behind.”
Now the Giants, who keep belching these bromides about a playoff run, need to shut up. Win one game and then speak mildly, meekly and modestly.
“We’re 0-6,” Giants safety Antrel Rolle said. “We’ve dug a huge hole for ourselves, a very huge hole for ourselves. But the season’s not over for us yet. And that’s our mindset, that has to be our mindset.”
With only one halfback healthy, the Giants are holding some open tryouts on Tuesday in an effort to add some depth — and maybe, just maybe, catch lightning in a bottle.
“I’m not (losing confidence),” the three-time Pro Bowler told Francesa. “You can’t get gun-shy as a quarterback. It didn’t affect me during the game … Most of it is just decision-making.”
“It’s wide open and obviously we’re two games back right now,” the three-time Pro Bowler said on Tuesday. “Obviously we’ve got to play better football and do those things, but we still feel that we can get hot.”
“He said he’d punch anybody in the mouth that had anything to say about Tom Coughlin in that locker room,” Canty said. “Justin needs to worry about punching opposing offenses in the mouth.”
“They don’t like themselves,” the two-time Super Bowl champion told Joe & Evan. “That’s what it really comes down to. They don’t like each other. They’re not willing to fight for each other.”
A wishbone quarterback has yet to hoist a Lombardi Trophy. Until one does, give me the safer sensibilities of the pocket passer. Like Peyton Manning. Like Eli Manning. Maybe MetLife will be a family affair.
