Nassau County Legislature Approves Proposal For Animal Abuse Registry

The Nassau County Legislature on Monday passed a bill that would establish an online registry of people convicted of animal abuse.

Nassau County Looks To Set Up Animal Abuse Registry

Gary Rogers with the Nassau SPCA said in the case of Miss Harper – the pit bull mix that had her leg and ears cut off – those charged were convicted of abusing another dog before that incident.

Vet Tech Among 3 Arrested, Charged With Cutting Off Ears, Leg Of Pit Bull Puppy On L.I.

Miss Harper, now 7 months old, had her ears cut off and a hind leg amputated. She had a number of infections when she was brought in in September.

Dozens Of Pets Remain Unclaimed With Nassau’s Temporary Shelter To Close

Nassau’s emergency pet shelter will officially close its doors Friday. But as of midnight on Monday, the pets will all be officially placed in the custody of Nassau’s SPCA.
