Gay Men’s Health Crisis
Thousands of people on Sunday will take part in the 2013 AIDS Walk, to raise money for awareness about HIV/AIDS.
Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, Rep. Jerrold Nadler and city council speaker Christine Quinn were among the politicians who met with community leaders at Gay Men’s Health Crisis headquarters Sunday afternoon to talk about an LGBT equality measure.
45,000 people walked up to 6.2 miles in the 27th annual AIDS Walk New York on Sunday to raise money for AIDS research. It’s the largest HIV/AIDS fundraiser in the world, benefiting the Gay Men’s Health Crisis and other HIV/AIDS charities.
The hugely popular parade heads down Fifth Avenue from 36th Street, and ends in the West Village at Christopher and Greenwich. Seek out these restaurants for brief respites, post-parade toasts or a quick refueling during the festivities.
The gloomy weather in Manhattan didn’t stop thousands of people from heading out to Central Park for AIDS Walk New York on Sunday.
