A health alert has been issued to parents and students at Hauppauge High School after health officials confirmed another case of MRSA. It has left parents saying not again.
The Countrywood Primary Center in the South Huntington district school said that a doctor had initially suspected MRSA “was a distinct possibility,” but tests came back negative.
“I also want to reassure you that our district has taken a proactive approach to this problem,” principal Karen Siegel said in a letter to parents.
One of Hauppauge High School’s elite wrestlers, 16-year-old Nicholas Mauriello, was fighting for his life in a Suffolk County hospital room Tuesday, battling two bacterial infections.
