An arrest has been made in connection with the hit-and-run that left one man dead in Williston Park on Sunday.
Jason Nelson, 27, was standing outside a house when a car headed northbound on the street hit him and knocked him to the ground, Suffolk County police said.
Sister Jacqueline Walsh, 59, of Syosett, was found bleeding and unresponsive on Rose Hill Road in Water Mill around 8:30 p.m. Monday, police said.
He was bleeding badly and suffered head injuries, but a neighbor said that the little boy still tried to comfort his mother. He told her not to cry. He was thrown about 20 feet by the impact.

Just before 9 p.m., 33-year-old Amjad Barakat was crossing against the light at 72nd Street and Seventh Avenue in Bay Ridge when the car, described as a tan or beige Crown Victoria or Grand Marquis, hit him and kept going, police said.
