Police on Long Island and in Queens are investigating separate incidents of holiday decorations being vandalized.
The 28-year-old officer, whose name has been withheld, was found lying on 211th Street in Hollis Hills. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The family of Ilan Grapel was able to speak with the 27-year-old man on Sunday and said he told them he was being treated well. Meanwhile, the State Department indicated that its ability in the case was limited.
Neighbors said they hadn’t seen the couple for some time. Their son, who suffered from mental illness, was found living in the home days after his parents had died, authorities said.
