A $40-million fortune could go unclaimed, after a Staten Island man with no will and no heirs passed away.
The tablet had been in the possession of the heirs of a Holocaust survivor who obtained it in the closing days of the war. The state’s highest court said last month the tablet cannot be claimed as one of the “spoils of war.”
The inaugural Jewish Values Gala will be held on Tuesday, honoring those who have demonstrated the core morals of the Jewish faith, and human values in general.
Police said the incident happened just before 10 p.m. near the Taylor-Wythe Houses in Brooklyn, where Katz lived.
