Amare Stoudemire added 11 points and Beno Udrih and Andrea Bargnani had 10 each for New York (10-21), which snapped a three-game skid.
This group of players has run its course, as has the Carmelo Anthony era. The trade for Melo was a failure. The idea of building around him hasn’t worked. It’s time to accept it, cut losses and move on.
Anthony is considered day-to-day. Woodson doesn’t expect Melo to make the trip to Toronto on Saturday.
To say the Knicks’ guards have been bad this year would be an understatement. To call them the worst collection of guards in the NBA would be accurate. It’s that horrid.
Asik would be a strong fit in the ‘Bockers’ frontcourt, as power forwards Amar’e Stoudemire and Kenyon Martin are out for an unknown period of time.
Here’s the issue: Lowry is a free agent after this season. If the Knicks want to re-sign him long-term it will probably cost them around eight million dollars a season, give or take. That type of contract will make it nearly impossible for the Knicks to bring in another max player in the 2015 offseason if Carmelo Anthony signs a max extension this summer.
James Dolan, angry with details being leaked, put the kibosh on a trade proposal Thursday that could have landed Toronto point guard Kyle Lowry, according to the Daily News.
In case you’ve been living under a rock for the last six weeks, the Knicks have major problems. And every day those problems seem to multiply.
The Knicks are playing not only against their opponents, but a timer that will hit zero at a time of Dolan’s choosing. When it does, all New York fans will feel the pain.
New York has attempted to deal Iman Shumpert, Raymond Felton and Amar’e Stoudemire in a deal for the four-time NBA All-Star, but Danny Ainge doesn’t appear to be interested, according to a report.
Knicks fans love Iman Shumpert. They love the intensity he brings to the court every night, especially on defense. Well, they may want to come to grips with a truth: He’s no longer a favorite of New York’s front office.
The ball movement has either been nonexistent or turnover prone. Until that changes, and the Knicks’ best players start to shoot better, there’s going to continue to be rough basketball at MSG.
Last week I wrote about how Chandler might be the Knicks’ most irreplaceable player, so naturally less than a week later he fractures his leg and will miss anywhere from a month to a month and a half.
The Knicks showed many good things in Wednesday’s season opener. But there were also a couple of red flags that could prove to be a problem in the season’s first true test against the Bulls.
“I think the perfect way to punish myself is to take my hair, just to end that whole separation of trying to be cool or trying to separate myself so that I look different,” Shumpert declared.
