An NYPD officer who made headlines for an act of kindness a year ago was the recipient of a special honor Tuesday.
The man once identified as homeless as a New York City police officer gave him a pair of boots in Times Square last fall has been tracked down to an apartment in the Bronx.
Officer Larry DePrimo was honored for his generosity with a proclamation from the city council. Speaker Christine Quinn said the officer has set an example for other New Yorkers.
The homeless man seen getting boots from a New York City police officer in a photo that went viral is not actually homeless.
Asked about the $100 all-weather boots Officer Larry DePrimo gave him, Jeffrey Hillman said he has hidden them because “they are worth a lot of money.”
