Police Monday were seeking assistance from the public in finding two suspects wanted for a Christmas Day jewelry store break-in in Staten Island.
A melee broke out at a fine jewelry store on Madison Avenue Wednesday afternoon, after a man attacked a security guard who would not let him in, according to a published report.
One of the suspects is seen on surveillance video looking at jewelry items when he pulls out a handgun and demands Rolex watches from the employees, police said.
Police say the suspect entered Astro Gallery of Gems at 185 Madison Avenue and removed a green Columbian emerald from a locked display case.
Police are looking for suspects wanted for two armed robberies of jewelry stores on West 8th Street and West 57th Street and were both captured on surveillance video.
The store owner was shot during the robbery. He was taken to Bellevue Hospital with a single gunshot wound to the chest. He is listed in stable condition.
Officials say the 51-year-old owner of a Port Washington jewelry store called for an ambulance after falling ill at the Manorhaven Boulevard shop Tuesday morning.
A gang of thieves turned a New Jersey Mall into a drive thru on Thursday morning.
The trial starts this week for a 29-year-old New York man accused of killing a husband and wife at their Connecticut jewelry store in 2005.
