Adam Saalfield, 21, appeared in court in Riverhead Thursday after being indicted for second degree murder.
According to prosecutors, Nicole Grammerstorf had her 5-month-old child in the Nissan SUV at the time of the crash. Prosecutors said she then tried to cover up the crash by taking the car to Mark Monserrat’s auto body shop.
Sophia Anderson, 21, was arraigned on charges of conspiracy and obstruction of governmental operation after prosecutors determined she wasn’t the driver in the crash that displaced two elderly sisters from their house.
Sixteen years after a murder that stunned Suffolk County, Thursday was sentencing day for the convicted killer. The victim was a 17-year-old homecoming queen. Prosecutors said she was stabbed dozens of times in a jealous rage.
Police say Leonard Hoppie, 20, and his 10-year-old brother were uninjured in the crash.
