Report: Blown Call Officials Forced Out By Big East

Big East commissioner John Marinatto said Thursday that three officials “voluntarily” withdrew themselves from this week’s tournament at MSG following a blown call uproar. The Post paints a different picture, reporting that the refs “were told to put away their whistles.”

3 Officials Withdraw From Tournament After St. John’s-Rutgers Blunder

After a colossal missed call that cost the Scarlet Knights their chance at beating St. John’s on Wednesday, Jim Burr, Tim Higgins and Earl Walton have voluntarily pulled themselves from the Big East Tournament.

Blown Call Sets Up St. John’s-Syracuse Showdown

By virtue of a Jan. 12 victory over the Red Storm at MSG, Syracuse earned the final double-bye in the Big East Tournament. St. John’s, meanwhile, has a short turnaround following Wednesday’s controversial 65-63 victory over 13th-seeded Rutgers.
