Investigators said the man accused of beating a tourist with a hammer in City Hall Park last month has admitted to the attack. In court documents released during a hearing Tuesday, the man first identified as John Yoos said he “snapped” before launching the attack. The suspect pleaded not guilty to attempted murder.
John Yoos, 43, of Crown Heights, was arrested on July 30 after repeatedly striking 31-year-old Hugo Alejandre with the claw of a hammer, police said.
Hugo Alejandre, 31, of Barcelona, was sitting on a bench with his girlfriend at Manhattan’s City Hall Park when he was attacked around 3 p.m. Monday, police said.
