Etan Patz’s mother returned to the witness stand Tuesday, called to knock down a statement made by convicted child molester Jose Ramos to a jailhouse informant.
The mother of a 6-year-old boy who vanished on his way to school 35 years ago is testifying in the murder trial of a store clerk accused of killing him.
Pedro Hernandez told investigators that on May 25, 1979, he lured Patz into the basement of a SoHo deli where he worked, choked him, put his body in a plastic bag and threw it out with the trash, police said.
On Saturday, sources reported that investigators discovered what they described as a suspicious stain on a concrete wall while tearing apart the basement. However, the FBI won’t conform those reports, and said that Sunday will be a painstaking process.
