A police K-9 training facility in the Hudson Valley takes us inside the world of a cop’s best friend.
According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the K-9 named Ari “sniffed” out an arriving passenger’s suitcase while inspecting luggage arriving from Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago on July 15.
The dog named Major was killed instantly when he was hit by a commercial truck early Saturday on Route 34 near Sodom Lane, according to the Orange Police Department.
The K-9 is named after police officer Joe Falcone, who was killed in the line of duty in February, 2011.
The victim, a 57-year-old woman, allegedly refused to stop her vehicle after police flashed their lights at her while driving in Tuckerton back in January, prosecutors said.
The effort includes developing a new intelligence unit with the FBI and working with detectives from the federal Transportation Security Administration.
