When the moratorium lifts on Wednesday night and teams around the league execute all the deals reported over the last 10 days, the Knicks will still be left with many holes to fill and very few good options to fill them.
Kidd instantly made the Nets relevant, then respected, then regal.

Martin and Smith are ill and questionable for Tuesday night’s game in Indianapolis. Shumpert has a sore left knee but coach Mike Woodson says he probably will play in Game 4 against the Pacers.
New York woke up Sunday morning and learned the illness that J.R. Smith fought Saturday had spread to forward Kenyon Martin.
The Knicks finally broke 100 points and had 20 assists in the game. They finished with an offensive rating of 120 for the game, reminiscent of the type of numbers that they were putting up during their April winning streak.
“I think for the most part, from the start of the game and throughout the whole game, I think we played with a sense of urgency today,” Anthony said after the game. “We played the way we’ve been playing as far as competing at the highest level.”
The Knicks have to continue to play small, and play their game. Now isn’t the time to panic. Not yet, anyway.
The Knicks will not concede they have a “big” problem — yet. Check back if they lose Game 2 on Tuesday night.
“I made reference to our guys, you need to stay out of the papers and just concentrate on playing,” Woodson said. “That’s not important. What you’re wearing doesn’t have anything to do with how you play on the basketball floor.”
“Well, we was going to a funeral, but it looks like we got buried,” Smith said. “Basketball is a very humbling game.”
