A Long Island man has pleaded guilty to murder and sex abuse charges in the death of an 18-year-old newlywed.
A grand jury is expected to formally charge Maxwell Sherman, of Long Beach, in the death of 18-year-old newlywed Lauren Daverin.
The body of 18-year-old Lauren Daverin, clad in only a pair of boots, was found Thursday night by a footbridge in Rockville Centre.
In a chilling twist, 18-year-old Maxwell Sherman — the man charged in connection with Daverin’s death — spoke with CBS 2’s Carolyn Gusoff at the crime scene Friday one day before his arrest.
Maxwell Sherman, 18, of Long Beach is being held without bail until his next court appearance on Aug. 28.
A Long Island teenager was charged Saturday night with the second-degree murder, in connection with the death of a young woman in Rockville Centre.
Daverin’s body was found at about 10 p.m. Thursday on a footbridge between Sunrise Highway and Merrick Road, Nassau County police said.
