Lawmakers Push To Close Legal Loophole In Leandra’s Law

Officials called on state lawmakers to close a loophole allowing convicted drunk divers to avoid the mandatory ignition interlock requirement under the anti-drunk driving measure.

Saturday Marks One-Year Anniversary Of Leandra’s Law

Saturday was a bittersweet anniversary in New York, as it marked one full year since the passage of Leandra’s Law. The bill was named for a child killed while riding in the care of a drunk driver.



Second Phase Of ‘Leandra’s Law’ Takes Effect Sunday

Starting Sunday, anyone sentenced for DWI, including first time offenders, will have to install and maintain an interlocking ignition device in their car.

Huertas Pleads Guilty To 16 Counts

There was a guilty plea entered Tuesday in the drunk-driving case that lead to “Leandra’s Law” here in New York State.
