No criminal charges will be filed against members of the Phillipsburg, N.J. High School wrestling team who were seen in a photo simulating a lynching, the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office said Thursday
The Warren County Prosecutor’s office and local police have launched an investigation to determine whether any criminality was involved with a photo that showed a wrestling dummy with a rope around its neck, according to a published report.
The picture showed seven boys in Phillipsburg wrestling attire surrounding a black wrestling dummy wearing a rival Paulsboro High School T-shirt and hanging from a noose. Two of the boys have the hoods on their sweatshirts fixed into points.
The state Division on Civil Rights was asked to look into a photo that shows members of a high school wrestling team apparently depicting a lynching.
