Belligerent riders, spaghetti throwers, rat eaters and flashers: what’s going on in the subway these days?
A woman who refused to be a victim was honored Wednesday night. She stood up against a subway flasher, and made sure he was brought to justice.
Close to a million people saw her video on YouTube, where Nicola Briggs confronted 51-year-old Mario Valdivia for, she claims, rubbing up against her and exposing himself on the subway. Her actions led to his arrest.
You could easily say Nicola Briggs is the toast of the town this week. The tiny New Yorker became a folk hero overnight when a cell phone video surfaced showing her tirade against a subway flasher.
She refused to stand there and take it. So instead, the victim of a subway sexual assault decided to get even. She confronted a flasher right there on a crowded train.
