8 Long Island Beaches Closed After Medical Waste Washes Ashore

The eight beaches in Atlantic Beach had to be shut down Friday and could be shut down again after dozens of needles, syringes, pill bottles and other medical waste washed ashore.

Prosecutors: LI Man Got High Using Medical Waste

A licensed practical nurse was stealing medical waste from nursing homes in Suffolk Coutny in search of a powerful synthetic drug used primarily by cancer patients to feed a drug addiction, authorities said Thursday.
