A Monmouth University poll released Monday finds the Newark mayor maintaining a double-digit lead, 52 to 42 percent among likely voters.
Democrat Cory Booker was set to face Republican Steve Lonegan for the U.S. Senate seat in New Jersey following the primary this week, and an expert said Booker will likely cruise to victory.
The Monmouth University survey released Tuesday shows Booker with the support of 49 percent of Democrats likely to vote in the Aug. 13 primary. His closest competitor, U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, got 12 percent.
Monmouth University Polling Institute director Patrick Murray noted that this was the third highest score in the more than two years that Monmouth has been measuring the quality of life index.
