No one expected that the season finale between the Philadelphia Eagles (9-6) and the New York Giants (6-9) would be a meaningless encounter for both teams. While the Giants have won three games in a row for the second time this season, the Eagles dropped out of playoff contention with their current three-game losing skid.
A season of transition brought a new coach with a breath of fresh air and a new identity as a team. Eagles backup quarterback Nick Foles tossed two fourth quarter touchdown passes, as Philadelphia rallied to hand the New York Giants their fifth straight defeat to start the season. With the win, Philadelphia climbed into a first place tie with the Dallas Cowboys, who lost at home to the Denver Broncos. Both Dallas and Philadelphia are 2-3 on the season.
