The two-time Tony Award winners are part of an ensemble cast in the comedy “It’s Only a Play.”
Nathan Lane and the late Robin Williams are remembered by many adoring fans for their roles in the 1996 movie “The Birdcage.” Lane recently talked with CBS 2’s Dana Tyler about his former co-star’s death.
The nominations were announced Tuesday in a televised event co-hosted by Tony winner Sutton Foster and “Modern Family” star Jesse Tyler Ferguson. The awards will be broadcast on CBS from Radio City Music Hall on June 9.
Nathan Lane is beloved by audiences and Tony voters, and is certain to be one of the nominees for Best Actor for his performance in “The Nance.”
Douglas Carter Beane’s play about swishy vaudeville comics who are often straight but may not be is a strong candidate for Best Play of the season.
