Army Maj. From New City Killed In Afghanistan ‘Great Man, Great Soldier’

Army Maj. Thomas E. Kennedy was killed Wednesday when a bomber detonated a suicide vest in the Kunar province, the Department of Defense said. A native of New City, he graduated from West Point in 2000.

Joshua Berg, Rockland Teen Mauled By Grizzly Bear In Alaska, Recovering

Seven teenagers were nearing the end of a month-long survival course when 17-year-old Berg noticed the mama grizzly. Berg yelled “Bear! Bear!” but it was too late, the bear came charging at him and took him down.
