NJ World War II Hero Honored With US Postage Stamp

A New Jersey soldier who had been the nation’s oldest living recipient of the Medal of Honor before his death last month is among those being honored with a U.S. postage stamp.

Oldest Living Medal Of Honor Recipient Nicholas Oresko Dies At 86

The Bayonne native received the Medal of Honor from President Harry Truman on Oct. 30, 1945. While serving as an Army Master sergeant, the badly wounded Oresko single-handedly took out two enemy bunkers during the Battle of the Bulge and killed 12 German soldiers.
