Police said the 57-year-old officer was conducting speed checks on the Nassau Expressway in Lawrence around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday when he was hit by an Audi.

Cops: Nassau Police Veteran Airlifted To Hospital After Being Hit By Car

The accident happened on the Nassau Expressway around 11:30 Tuesday morning, police said. Det. Michael Bitsko described the collision as a hard impact.
