Schumer was joined by New York doctors on Sunday to call for a nationwide plan to combat the trend of babies being born addicted to prescription drugs or other opiates.
“I live day by day and one day at a time,” Ray Lucas said. “I still have a lot of pain that I deal with, but I relish in the fact that sometimes you’ve got to walk through hell to get to heaven.”
Ray Lucas, who recently checked into rehab and is courageously chronicling his war with prescription painkillers, is not a role model. But he is a hybrid of hero and life lesson.
