Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission
The sewage spilled into surrounding waters and even some city streets, most of it in New York City and northern New Jersey.
Crews have been working to repair the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission wastewater treatment system after it was damaged by severe flooding and power outages during Superstorm Sandy.
Some people still aren’t back in their homes and debris is still being cleared from the Passaic River.
About 20 New Jersey Youth Corps student volunteers were working on the cleanup in the scorching heat.
