A wake will be held Tuesday for the bodega worker who was accidentally shot by a police officer while fleeing a gunpoint robbery in the Bronx.

A disgruntled employee recently fired from his job shot and killed one of his co-workers then opened fire on the street near the Empire State Building before being shot and killed by police, authorities said Friday.
More than 500 weapons were turned in on Saturday at the New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Jamaica.
It’s part of a campaign by the Mayors Against Illegal Guns called “Demand A Plan” which is pushing the presidential candidates to “detail specific plans to prevent the gun violence.”
The suspect has mugged at least 16 people in the Lower East Side since May, spanning from Houston Street to East 23rd Street, police said.
Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said the ring used the city’s streets as their showroom, “shopping” for bikes and then whisking them away in no more than 30 seconds.
“The fact of the matter is that 96 percent of shooting victims are people of color, yet the community leaders are not speaking out about this. We’d like to hear from them,” Kelly said.
The suspect is accused of shooting Officer Brian Groves as he and his partner were checking on suspected drug activity at the Seward Park Housing Development on Essex Street, police said.
“Officer Groves is clearly lucky to be alive,” Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said. “He was shot from no more than eight feet away. He would have almost certainly have been killed if it wasn’t for his bullet-resistant vest.”
An armed carjacking suspect is listed in critical condition after he was shot by police in Brooklyn, police said.
Council members Jumaane Williams and Brad Lander plan to introduce legislation Wednesday calling for the creation of an inspector general to oversee the department.

The new legislation would make the possession of 25 grams of marijuana or less, in private or public view, a violation subject to a ticket and fine rather than a misdemeanor, Cuomo announced Monday.
