Jurors have not reached a verdict in the first day of deliberations in the trial of a New Jersey father accused of raping five of his daughters.
Closing statements are under way Monday in the first of five trials for a New Jersey father accused of raping five of his daughters.
The man testified earlier that he loved his children and never harmed them. He said testimony from his former wife that he beat her and the children, and a daughter who said he raped her until she bore him a child, were “all lies.”
Under questioning by his lawyer Wednesday, the man said such actions would have drawn the attention of neighbors or police.
The man told jurors that he loved his children and never harmed them. He said his former wife’s testimony that he beat her and their children was “fabricated.”
The man told jurors last week that his former wife had been attracted to his “high morals” when they met as high school students in Paterson.
